Nasreen's Dachshunds

Hand raised puppies from our home to yours!

How It All Began...

I first fell in love with Dachshunds after getting to know a short haired miniature named Brawt who belongs to my husband, Brandon. Brawt has the sweetest disposition, loves to cuddle, is very obedient, and needless to say he completely won my heart!

It wasn't long before I was planning on getting my own Dachshund. I started shopping around and absolutely fell in love with the English creams.  I stumbled upon Leon Valley Kennel's website and talked with Karen about a litter she had available, which she called "The Lucky Seven" litter. I probably looked at her page every day for weeks. She had American cream puppies that needed homes and I was DIEING to take one home, but there was one problem. The puppies were ready to go NOW and I was living in a sorority house at the time and would be for another two months. There was no way I could have a puppy there. The timing just wasn't right. I decided to hold out until she bred another litter and made sure to be on the top of the waiting list.

Meanwhile, I kept looking around. Unfortunately, a few months later when I was ready to bring home a baby, Karen didn't have any creams and wouldn't for MONTHS! However, she referred me to a friend of hers, who had a litter of cream puppies available, in hopes that she had a baby for me.

I got on the phone right away and called Debbie, but the litter she had were all males and all short-haired, and I really wanted a long-haired female. Bummer! When I told her what I was looking for, she hesitated, but continued to tell me about a three month old long-haired cream female named Lily that she would consider selling but really didn't want to. She told me she bought this puppy from Karen to be a part of her breeding program but she turned into an escape artist and kept getting out of the kennels! Afraid of something happening to this gorgeous puppy, she would consider selling her to be an indoor pet to the right person. Come to find out, this beautiful little girl was one of the light creams from Karen's "Lucky Seven" litter! I felt like this was just meant to be! I could not have been more excited to go see her, so the very next day I cleared my schedule and we drove three hours out to Fredricksburg, TX. It was love at first sight and I definitely would not come home without her!

Now anyone who has owned a Dachshund knows you can't have just one! I figured that out really quick. About three months after I got Lily, I was doing some research on her pedigree and noticed that four dogs in her bloodline are from the same kennel, Di's Dachshunds. For some reason the breeder's website wouldn't work and after trying to pull up the page for a few weeks, I decided to call the breeder, Diana Erwin. I wanted to ask if she had any picture of these dogs that she could email to me- I'm such a dork when it comes to my babies! Plus it wouldn't hurt to let her know I couldn't view her page. She was so kind and sent me a few pictures. My big mistake was asking what puppies she currently had available. She sent me pictures of a precious little guy who was four months old and the last puppy remaining from his litter. He looked cream, but was increasingly getting more and more red. Regardless, he had the sweetest face and cream or not I was in love! Knowing that he was ready to go to his forever home, she made me an offer I couldn't refuse. Unfortunately, she is located in Louisiana, but lucky for me she was planning on driving to Houston that very weekend to fly out a few other puppies, so I met her there and came home with a friend for Lily, who we later named Winston.

And then there were three!

Look! We all have different colored eyes in this picture! Kinda spooky!
